A widespread power outage struck parts of Paris and the Hauts-de-Seine region on Thursday morning.
The blackout temporarily cut electricity to 55,000 homes, according to French media reports.
The outage also disabled traffic lights and streetlights across several neighbourhoods.
It halted operations on some metro lines and suburban train services.
Enedis said the blackout lasted about five minutes before power returned to most areas.
A few thousand homes, however, still remain affected.
Cause Identified by Grid Operators
Enedis traced the outage to a technical incident at an RTE substation in Issy-les-Moulineaux.
RTE oversees France’s high-voltage electricity transmission network.
The failure triggered a rapid loss of power across multiple connected sectors.
Technicians responded quickly to stabilise the grid and restore service.
Response and Continuing Impact
Enedis apologised for the disruption and assured residents of ongoing repairs.
The company continues monitoring remaining faults to restore full service.
Authorities urged residents to remain cautious at intersections without functioning signals.
Transport operators restarted services once power returned to critical systems.
