Emergency Crews Battle Flames After Blast
Fire engines sped to the scene moments after reports of the explosion near one of the Red Fort metro station gates. Firefighters worked to control the blaze as crowds gathered at the cordoned site. The cause of the explosion remains unknown, and investigators continue to search for clues.
Police spokesman Sanjay Tyagi confirmed the deaths and injuries. “We are investigating the cause of the blast,” he said while standing near the wreckage.
Witnesses Describe Chaos and Destruction
The Red Fort, once an imperial palace and now a major tourist site, stood shrouded in smoke as damaged cars lined the street. Local media footage showed emergency vehicles and officers surrounding the area.
A resident living nearby told NDTV he heard a “window-shattering sound” before flames engulfed several vehicles. “The fire spread fast,” he said, describing a scene of panic and confusion.
