Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie has been identified as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by a football agent in north London last month.
The incident reportedly took place on 6 September in Barnet, when Udogie was out with a friend during the international break. Police say the suspect, a 31-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, blackmail, and driving without a licence. He has since been released on bail.
The alleged threats were also directed toward Udogie’s friend, though no one was injured. Authorities have clarified that the suspect is not Udogie’s agent.
Tottenham said in a statement: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”
Despite the ordeal, Udogie returned to action days later, featuring as a substitute in Spurs’ 13 September Premier League win over West Ham. Police inquiries into the case remain ongoing.
