British prosecutors have formally approved 21 criminal charges against social media personalities Andrew and Tristan Tate. The charges include rape, human trafficking, and assault involving three women. This legal action takes place while the brothers live in Romania, pending an extradition request from the UK made in 2024. Both men deny all accusations.
Andrew Tate, 38, faces ten counts related to sexual violence, coercion, and running prostitution activities. Tristan Tate, 36, is charged with eleven similar offenses involving a different alleged victim. These alleged crimes reportedly occurred between 2012 and 2015.
Bedfordshire Police have issued international arrest warrants for the brothers. Romanian prosecutors are conducting their own investigation, focusing on suspected trafficking of minors, forced participation in pornography, and money laundering. Officials in Romania have identified at least 34 potential victims, including a 15-year-old girl.
The Tate brothers hold dual British and American citizenship. They grew up in Luton, UK, before relocating to Romania. Both gained global notoriety through social media, particularly Andrew Tate, who became widely known for controversial and misogynistic online content. Despite bans from many platforms, Andrew continues to have a strong following, with nearly 11 million followers on X.
The brothers continue to assert their innocence as legal cases proceed in both the UK and Romania.
