Sky has put 900 jobs at risk as it adapts to the streaming era and competition from US giants like Netflix. The broadcaster expects about 600 roles to be cut and 300 redeployed from its 23,000 UK staff.
This marks the third round of cuts in just over 18 months, hitting technology, product, and corporate teams. Since early 2023, Sky has axed nearly 3,500 roles while moving away from traditional satellite TV toward internet-based services.
More than 90% of new subscriptions now come from products like Sky Glass and Sky Stream. Comcast-owned Sky says the changes will support its push for digital-first services, stronger content, and improved product performance.
Sky previously cut 2,000 customer service jobs in March and 800 installation roles last January as it shifted to digital platforms. The company also struck a deal with Warner Bros Discovery this year, giving up exclusive rights to HBO content while hosting WBD’s Max streaming service.
