Plans to stage a Serie A match between AC Milan and Como in Australia have been cancelled.
The fixture in Perth would have been the first major European league game played abroad.
Serie A said the match became impossible after last-minute and unacceptable demands from the Asian Football Confederation.
League president Ezio Simonelli cited financial risks and mounting conditions.
The game was moved because the San Siro was unavailable during the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics.
UEFA had reluctantly approved the relocation earlier this season.
Serie A hoped the match would help promote Italian football overseas.
However, AFC conditions, including control over match officials, derailed the plan.
The cancellation follows a similar decision by La Liga, which scrapped a proposed game in Miami.
