David Raya extended his remarkable unbeaten streak as Arsenal equalled a 122-year-old club record for consecutive clean sheets in their 3–0 win over Slavia Prague.
The Spanish goalkeeper, who has not conceded in 12 hours and 56 minutes of play, helped the Gunners register their eighth straight shutout, matching a record last set in 1903. Although a late penalty threatened to end the streak, VAR overturned the decision, and Raya comfortably saved Slavia’s only shot on target in stoppage time.
It marked Raya’s 50th clean sheet in 110 games since joining from Brentford in 2023, surpassing the tally of early Arsenal great Jimmy Ashcroft. Known for his calmness and alertness, Raya said afterward:
“You never know when the other team is going to have a chance. You have to be alert 90, 100 minutes every game.”
Manager Mikel Arteta praised Raya’s discipline and focus, calling him “exceptional” in how he trains and anticipates danger.
Statistically, Raya leads the Premier League in save success rate (84.2%) and ranks among the quickest goalkeepers in Europe, clocking over 31 km/h in the Champions League. His proactive, high-line style has been crucial to Arsenal’s defensive dominance this season.
With 10 consecutive wins in all competitions, Arsenal are the first English top-flight team in over a century to achieve eight straight victories without conceding. They next face Sunderland in the Premier League as Raya looks to continue his record-breaking run.
