Poland begins its six-month presidency of the European Union Council with an emphasis on stability and collaboration. Under the slogan “Security and Unity!”, the country aims to address pressing challenges while fostering solidarity among member states.

Prioritizing Europe’s Security Challenges

Poland’s presidency focuses on enhancing security across various sectors, including defense, economy, energy, and public health. “Our shared security is indispensable,” said Adam Szłapka, Minister for EU Affairs. The country plans over 300 meetings and cultural events to drive its agenda.

The presidency comes amid the ongoing war in Ukraine and tensions at the Polish-Belarusian border. Prime Minister Donald Tusk described the border issues as “hybrid warfare,” urging greater European unity to address these challenges.
