Microsoft has reported that the majority of its application services, including Outlook and Teams, have been restored after a significant outage on Monday morning.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) around 11 p.m. ET, the company confirmed that “functionality has been restored for all impacted services except for Outlook on the web, which remains affected for a small number of users.” Microsoft added that it is continuing to investigate the remaining issues with Outlook on the web and delays in mail queueing.
The outage, which affected services like Exchange Online and Microsoft Teams Calendar, began early Monday morning. DownDetector, a service that tracks tech disruptions, began reporting widespread issues around 8 a.m. ET. By just before 11 a.m. ET, thousands of user complaints had been recorded, many shared on social media.
This incident follows a similar series of outages that impacted Microsoft 365 users in September.
Users Vent Frustrations on Social Media
As the disruptions continued, many users expressed their frustrations on social media. One user posted on X, “Microsoft outages are ruining my productive workday. Phone calls and handwriting might be the only way to fix this.”
Another user tweeted, “As much as I appreciate a chill workday, Microsoft, please fix this Outlook issue. I’m trying to finish all my work before the holiday.”
Microsoft assured users that it is actively working to resolve the remaining issues, particularly with Outlook on the web.
