A drone launched from Yemen struck Eilat on Wednesday, injuring at least 22 people, medics confirmed.
The Israeli military said the drone fell near the Red Sea coast after defenses failed to stop it.
Officials reported uncertainty about whether injuries came from the drone or an interceptor.
Authorities Secure the Impact Zone
Magen David Adom said two victims suffered serious injuries, while others sustained minor wounds.
Police warned residents to avoid the crash area and not touch debris that might contain explosives.
Bomb disposal units examined the drone’s remains and continued to secure the site.
Regional Conflict Escalates Beyond Gaza
Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen claimed responsibility, calling it solidarity with Palestinians.
The Houthis have also targeted Red Sea shipping lanes since November 2023, disrupting global trade.
Israel and the United States have responded with airstrikes on Houthi sites, escalating the conflict further.
