The Premier League has approved Arsenal and Crystal Palace’s requests to move their league fixtures before their Carabao Cup quarter-final meeting on Tuesday, 23 December.
Originally set for Sunday, 21 December, Arsenal’s trip to Everton and Palace’s visit to Leeds will now both take place at 8pm on Saturday, 20 December.
Palace face a Conference League game against KuPS on Thursday, 18 December, and preferred to play earlier to allow more recovery time before facing Arsenal.
A Premier League statement said: “Player welfare is a priority… this change follows fixture congestion caused by expanded UEFA competitions.”
The league also thanked Leeds and Everton for cooperating. Both matches will still be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
